Brief

St Swithun’s School commissioned a film to present and promote their plans for a new sports complex. The aim was to clearly communicate the vision for the development while grounding it in the life and character of the school.

Delivery

We approached the project by combining live action with architectural visualisations. To set the scene, we filmed the Headmistress outdoors as she walked towards the camera. We then moved cut to show the camera crew and boom operator in shot to add a behind-the-scenes feel before revealing the scale of the existing sports centre. We then composited wireframe animations over the aerial footage to illustrate the proposed new complex in context. Interviews were scripted and delivered on autocue by various faculty members, filmed in locations chosen for their relevance and visual appeal, such as the tennis courts, sports hall, and pre-school building. We used CGI fly-throughs from the architects and integrated them seamlessly into the film, grading and pacing them to match our footage. The result combined documentary-style filming with technical animation to give a clear and engaging picture of the school’s future facilities.
